Lost Innocence

By Warpmind de InzanE

In youth I'd e'er be known to roam

in fairy forests I called home,

to dance with dryads, tall and fair,

and spy on mermaids comb their hair,

I'd laugh with pixies, gnomes and elves,

ne'er to proud to mock themselves,

I'd ride the dragons, proud and great

and hurry home not a minute too late.

Then scholars came and took away

the world in which I used to play,

they slew the dryads, one and all,

I felt them die, saw them fall...

they ordered me to leave behind

the world within my carefree mind,

they shattered dreams as best they could

in houses made of stone and wood.

But now I'm free, and gladly strive

to find some dryads yet alive,

to bring the fairy forests in

to where adventures yet begin,

to see the mermaids once again,

and know it wasn't all in vain,

for what is worthwhile anyway,

if we can't let our dragons stay...?

Shadowglen

By Dirce

Where the leaves unfold in black
Against the blacker skies
Where the stars look down on me
With brightly shining eyes
And streams murmur their secrets
To the pond’s safekeeping
And new hope seems to offer
An end to our weeping
I seem to sense the magic
Of wizards of the past
Although I’ve never been here
I know I’m home at last

Plus-Four Elven Chain Bikini

by Christine Morgan

(Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini, Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, 1960)

She was afraid to come out of the armory

She felt as exposed as could be

It was all that they had in the armory

And she knew everybody would see

(Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore)

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie plus-four elven chain bikini

That she wore to adventure today

An itsy bitsy teenie weenie plus-four elven chain bikini

So in the armory she wanted to stay

(Two, three, four, hauberk sure would cover more)

She was afraid to go down in the dungeon

So a big cloak around her she pulled

It was drafty and cold in the dungeon

And so she went bundled up in the wool

(Two, three, four, fought her way through orcs galore)

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie plus-four elven chain bikini

That she wore to adventure today

An itsy bitsy teenie weenie plus-four elven chain bikini

So in the big cloak she wanted to stay

(Two, three, four, hack and slash and blood and gore)

Now she's already vanquished a dragon

And she's already plundered its lair

But her cloak was burned off by the dragon

And she knows everybody will stare

(Two, three, four, they'd never seen the like before)

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie plus-four elven chain bikini

That she wore for the first time today

An itsy bitsy teenie weenie plus-four elven chain bikini

So in the dungeon she wanted to stay
